We warn that individuals who violate covenants of chastity,

• Exodus 20:14.  Thou shalt not commit adultery.

​

• Matthew 5:27-28.  Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

​

• 1 Cor 4:14.  I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.

​

• Romans 1:24-32.  
  Wherefore ...uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:  Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator,... For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:  And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.  And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind,... Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, ... haters of God, ...inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,  Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, ... Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

• Alma 39:3-5.  And this is not all, my son. Thou didst do that which was grievous unto me; for thou didst forsake the ministry, and did go over into the land of Siron among the borders of the Lamanites, after the harlot Isabel.  Yea, she did steal away the hearts of many; but this was no excuse for thee, my son. ...Know ye not, my son, that these things are an abomination in the sight of the Lord; yea, most abominable above all sins save it be the shedding of innocent blood or denying the Holy Ghost?

• 3 Nephi 21:10-11.  ... for I will show unto them that my wisdom is greater than the cunning of the devil.  Therefore it shall come to pass that whosoever will not believe in my words, who am Jesus Christ,...they shall be cut off from among my people who are of the covenant.

• 3 Nephi 12:27-30.  Behold, it is written by them of old time, that thou shalt not commit adultery;  But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman, to lust after her, hath committed adultery already in his heart.  Behold, I give unto you a commandment, that ye suffer none of these things to enter into your heart;  For it is better that ye should deny yourselves of these things, wherein ye will take up your cross, than that ye should be cast into hell.

 

• Mormon 9:28.  Be wise in the days of your probation; strip yourselves of all uncleanness; ask not, that ye may consume it on your lusts, but ask with a firmness unshaken, that ye will yield to no temptation, but that ye will serve the true and living God.

• D&C 42:22-23.  Thou shalt love thy wife with all thy heart, and shalt cleave unto her and none else.  And he that looketh upon a woman to lust after her shall deny the faith, and shall not have the Spirit; and if he repents not he shall be cast out.

​

• D&C 59:6.  Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Thou shalt not steal; neither commit adultery, nor kill, nor do anything like unto it.

​

• D&C 42:22-26.  Thou shalt love thy wife with all thy heart, and shalt cleave unto her and none else.  And he that looketh upon a woman to lust after her shall deny the faith, and shall not have the Spirit; and if he repents not he shall be cast out.  Thou shalt not commit adultery; and he that committeth adultery, and repenteth not, shall be cast out.  But he that has committed adultery and repents with all his heart, and forsaketh it, and doeth it no more, thou shalt forgive;  But if he doeth it again, he shall not be forgiven, but shall be cast out.

• Article of Faith13.  We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men;..If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

​

who abuse spouse or offspring, who abuse spouse or offspring, or who fail to fulfill family responsibilities will one day stand accountable before God.  Further, we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets.

• Ecclesiastes 3:17, 11:9, 12:13-14. 17 God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and every work. ...but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.  Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:  Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty fo man.  For God shall bring every work into judgment, with ever secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

• Matthew 16:27.  For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.​​

​​

• Matthew 18:6-7.  But whoso shall offend one of the little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged bout his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.  Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!

• Luke 17:1-2.  ...It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!  It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

​​

• John 12:48.  He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

• 1 Nephi 15:33-35.  Wherefore, if they should die in their wickedness they must be cast off also, as to the things which are spiritual, which are pertaining to righteousness; wherefore, they must be brought to stand before God, to be judged of their works; and if their works have been filthiness they must needs be filthy; and if they be filthy it must needs be that they cannot dwell in the kingdom of God; if so, the kingdom of God must be filthy also.  But behold, I say unto you, the kingdom of God is not filthy, and there cannot any unclean thing enter into the kingdom of God; wherefore there must needs be a place of filthiness prepared for that which is filthy.  And there is a place prepared, yea, even that awful hell of which I have spoken, and the devil is the preparator of it; wherefore the final state of the souls of men is to dwell in the kingdom of God, or to be cast out because of that justice of which I have spoken.

• Jacob 2:6-7, 9-10, 35.  Yea, it grieveth my soul and causeth me to shrink with shame before the presence of my Maker, that I must testify unto you concerning the wickedness of your hearts. And also it grieveth me that I must use so much boldness of speech concerning you, before your wives and your children, many of whose feelings are exceedingly tender and chaste and delicate before God, which thing is pleasing unto God;  ...because of the strict commandment which I have received from God, to admonish you according to your crimes, to enlarge the wounds of those who are already wounded, instead of consoling and healing their wounds;...instead of feasting upon the pleasing word of God have daggers placed to pierce their souls and wound their delicate minds.  Wherefore, I must tell you the truth according to the plainness of the word of God.  For behold, as I inquired of the Lord, thus came the word unto me, saying: Jacob, get thou up...and declare the word which I shall give thee unto this people.

• Mormon 3:20.  ...And for this cause I write unto you, that ye may know that ye must all stand before the judgment-seat of Christ, yea, every should who belongs to the whole human family of Adam; and ye must stand to be judged of your works, whether they be good or evil.

• Mormon 9:3-5.  Then will ye longer deny the Christ, or can ye behold the Lamb of God? Do ye suppose that ye shall dwell with him under a consciousness of your guilt? Do ye suppose that ye could be happy to dwell with that holy Being, when your souls are racked with a consciousness of guilt that ye have ever abused his laws?  Behold, I say unto you that ye would be more miserable to dwell with a holy and just God, under a consciousness of your filthiness before him, than ye would to dwell with the damned souls in hell.  For behold, when ye shall be brought to see your nakedness before God, and also the glory of God, and the holiness of Jesus Christ, it will kindle a flame of unquenchable fire upon you.

• D&C 63:37.  That every man should take righteousness in his hands and faithfulness upon his loins, and lift a warning voice unto the inhabitants of the earth; and declare both by word and by flight that desolation shall come upon the wicked. 

 

• D&C 63:57-58.  And again, verily I say unto you, those who desire in their hearts, in meekness, to warn sinners to repentance, let them be ordained unto this power.  For this is a day of warning, and not a day of many words.  For I, the Lord, am not to be mocked in the last days.

• Moses 7:66.  ...Before that day he saw great tribulations among the wicked; and he also saw...men's hearts failing them, looking forth with fear for the judgments of the Almighty God, which should come upon the wicked.
